Hahnemühle Fine Art Watercolour Papers Natural line papers have been the speciality of the Hahnemuhle paper mill for over 400 years. In watercolour painting the surface texture of the paper gives feel and individuality to the final piece of artwork. The surfaces are Rough and Matt, with the Matt being a smooth surface, similar to many 'not' surfaces on the market. Rough textures provide a granulation of the paints, and this heavy texture is often popular with landscape or nature watercolourists, giving an impression rather than precision. Matt is, as it says, and provides a slight texture suitable for most techniques and particularly more finely detailed work. The papers are either mould made or fourdrinier, in the traditions dating back to 1584. The range of watercolour products are available in blocks, pads or deckled edge sheets. Weights from 200 - 600gsm and acid free to the highest archival quality.
Hahnemühle Fine Art Oil & Acrylic Papers Hahnemühle offers a wide range of oil and acrylic papers and boards, many of which are especially suitable for beginners and professional artists alike. The surface of three oil and acrylic painting papers appears like the linen structure of a real canvas in natural white. The other two qualities of acrylic painting boards have a fine structured surface in bright white and natural white with which clear colour reproduction and beautiful flow of colours can be achieved. The weights vary between 230 gsm and 450 gsm. The thicker qualities are predestined for multilevel colour applications.
Hahnemühle Fine Art Pastel Papers Hahnemuhle pastel papers give variety to this medium whether the artist is using chalk or oil pastels. The mould made Ingres range of tinted laid textured papers, were named after French Artist Jean August Ingres (1780-1861), and is internally sized. Also in the pastel range is the Bugra mould made paper. It is unique and the name Bugra comes from the Bugra fair, held in Leipzig in the 1920's. Because of its coarse ribbed surface Bugra "Butten" is often used for antique prints, documents calendars, wood engravings and linocuts, book lining and special cover paper. It can also be used for drawing onto with carbon, red chalk and crayons. Pastel paper weights range from 100-260gsm, and are acid free to the highest archival quality.
